Observations on a Morning Commute

  1. It felt great.
  2. It was cold.  22°F to be exact.
  3. It was slow.  The Specialized weighs 30 lbs.
  4. It was made even slower by the cyclocross tires.
  5. It was excellent exercise.
  6. I am not alone.  Another commuter and I exchanged greetings.
  7. A semi-truck passed (don’t panic; I was on the sidewalk), and tiny ice crystals hit my face.  Must’ve been frozen steam from his exhaust.  Kinda cool.
  8. The Canada geese were on the move.   A sign of impending spring?
  9. I felt superior as I bicycled the bridge over the busy Interstate.
  10. Water was running in the streams, and  I could hear it because I was on a bike.
  11. Commuting is a great time to think of new blog posts.
  12. The mile-long downhill into work was su-weeet!
  13. That mile-long uphill is gonna hurt on the way home.
  14. In keeping with commuting rituals, I forgot to pack socks.
  15. At least I remembered to pack underwear.
  16. Can’t wait to do this again soon:  you should try it!

Well, you are nuts. But I’m glad you are doing it!

Hard to argue with that. But crazy in a good way, right, Micah?

Passionate about Bicycling

I don't bicycle for a living, but I do bicycle to live. It's that simple.
