About
Get Spoked began as my 2010 New Year’s resolution. Well, actually, only part of it.
My name is Rebecca, and I’m a recreational cyclist. My bicycling goal in 2009 was to ride 3,000 miles, but as of Dec. 31st the cyclometer read only 2,840. That’s right, I fell just 160 miles short of my goal. Serious bicyclists are snorting, “What? You couldn’t handle only 3K?” The rest of you are exclaiming, “3,000 miles! Are you crazy?” Somewhere between these two extremes is where I belong.
Luckily, the threat of global shame kept me on track throughout 2010, and I reached my goal while maintaining this blog. Its postings are filled with the hopes, bruises, and stinky spandex of an average recreational cyclist.
I hope you enjoy it, and keep those spokes spinning!

Good luck reaching your goal, but I wouldn’t lose any sleep about what mileage you’re doing. It’s getting out there and having fun that counts although now you’ve got me wondering how many kilometres I do each year?

Well, you’re right about that! It’s the journey that matters, not the mileage.
